The Cardinals got four big home runs from Moss, Díaz, Piscotty, and Adams.
The Giants struck first with a Panik RBI double in the first. Samardzija had an RBI single in the second to make it 2-0. A Blanco sacrifice fly in the fourth and a wild pitch by Wacha in the fifth made it 4-0. The Cardinals offense then came alive in the the bottom of the fifth. Moss had a solo home run and Díaz had a three run home run to make it 4-4 after five innings. Piscotty and Adams both added solo home runs in the sixth to make it 6-4. Molina added a RBI in the eighth to make it 7-4.
Cardinals starting pitcher Wacha pitched 5 innings giving up 4 runs on 6 hits while striking out 4. Lyons got the win, his second of the year by pitching a perfect sixth inning. Samardzija took the loss falling to 7-4 on the season. Samardzija gave up 6 runs on 9 hits while striking out 2.
