The Cardinals offense came alive in win over Brewers 10-3.
The Cardinals got a big offensive game from Gyorko, who had a three run home run. Also getting RBI’s were Holliday who had 2 RBI’s, Carpenter also had 2 RBI’s, Diaz and Piscotty each had an RBI.
The Cardinals got on the board in the top of the first with a Holliday RBI single. Piscotty also had an RBI single in the top of the first to make it 2-0. The Brewers got on the board in the second inning thanks to a Lucroy home run, making it 2-1. Holliday had another RBI single in the top of the fifth inning making it 3-1 Cardinals. The Brewers made it 3-2 in the sixth off a Braun RBI double. The Cardinals got an RBI triple from Carpenter and a fielder’s choice in the seventh to make it 5-2. In the top of the eighth the Cardinals got a three run home run from Gyorko, another RBI triple from Carpenter, and a Diaz RBI to make it 10-2. A Jonathan Lucroy sacrifice fly in the eighth made it 10-3.
Leake got the win moving to 4-4 on the season. Leake pitched six innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out 4 batters. Peralta took the loss falling to 3-6 on the season. Peralta gave up 3 runs on 9 hits over five innings.
