The Dodgers found a way to stop Jake Arrieta, as the Cubs lost for the first time in 23 game in which Arrieta started, falling 5-0.
Scott Kazmir and the Dodgers bullpen held the Cubs to just one hit in the win. The Dodgers didn’t score until the eighth inning. Gonzàlez had an RBI single followed by a Kendrick sacrifice fly to make it 2-0. Seager added a three run home run in the ninth to make it 5-0.
Scott Kazmir pitched 6 innings giving up one hit and striking out 7. Arrieta pitched 7 innings giving up two hits, striking out 8 but walking 4. Neither pitcher factored into the decision. Blanton got the win pitching 2 innings, striking out 3. Richards took the loss giving up 2 runs and 3 hits to the three batters he faced.
The Cubs continue their 4 game series against the Dodgers on Wednesday at 7 PM.
