Two were in killed in a crash in Marion County Monday night when a vehicle driven by 37-year-old Roy C. Albert, of Salem, served out of the southbound lane of IL-37, just north of CR100 N, into the northbound lane and struck two motorcycles. The motorcycles were driven by 57-year-old Stephen D. Jackson of Centralia and 50-year-old Terry D. Hatcher also of Centralia. Hatcher also had 49-year-old Rhonda R. Hatcher on board his vehicle.
Albert had lost control of his vehicle and entered the right shoulder, over-corrected and entered the northbound lane striking Jackson and Hatcher.
Albert was transported to Centralia Hospital, Terry and Rhonda Hatcher were both transported to Salem Township Hospital, and Jackson was flown to St. Louis University Hospital. Terry and Rhonda Hatcher died as a result of the collision.
Albert is charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
