The Cubs got on the board first with an RBI single by Soler in the first inning. The Phillies came back in the third with a sacrifice fly by Franco, making it 1-1. Soler then hit a home run in the fourth followed by the David Ross three run home run to make it 5-1. Bryant hit his 11th home run of the season in the fifth making it 6-1. Franco got an RBI single for Philadelphia in the seventh making it 6-2.
Lester got the win moving to 5-3 on the season. Lester gave up 2 runs on 6 hits over 6 1/3 innings. Lester also struck out 7 and walked 2. Morgan took the loss falling to 1-3 on the year. Morgan gave up 6 runs on 8 hits. Morgan also struck out 3 and walked 1.
