A home in Edgewood built in the late 1850’s was destroyed Monday in a fire. The home at 1300 Kentucky Avenue was not occupied, and did not have a current resident, but it was owned by Jeff Deunk of Effingham. Fire crews were on the scene from Edgewood, Farina, and Watson. The fire was reported just before noon.
There were no injuries and none of the nearby residences were damaged in the fire. An ember from burned debris is believed to have landed on the roof of the home, but the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
