The Altamont School Board learned at their recent meeting that Superintendent Jeff Fritchtnicht has received calculations for the State’s funding proposal. Fritchtnicht informed the Board that he is waiting on answers regarding the formula, and will report back at the next meeting with additional information. He did say that while things aren’t guaranteed, a funding plan is beginning to receive bipartisan support at the state level.
The Board was also updated on the schedule for improvements that will be made to the building and grounds within the district this summer. Superintendent Fritchtnitch informed the Board that the focus will be cleaning and mechanical maintenance. Work will begin with cleaning at the grade school. This will be the first project completed, Fritchtnicht said, because those teachers have a tendency to return to their rooms sooner than the high school staff.
It was also announced at the meeting that for the fifth consecutive year Altamont High School was named one of America’s Top High Schools by U.S. News and World Report.
