The Effingham County Legislative Committee approved appointments to the full County Board. The Committee recommended the reappointment of Henry Verdeyen and Jack Clay to the Board of Review. This Board is the final local review of the assessments within their jurisdiction. The Committee also recommended Ted Heath’s reappointment to the 911 Board. It was also recommended that the Fine Arts in Architecture Committee be eliminated. This committee has never met, and there was uncertainty about when or why this committee was initially formed.
The Committee also recommended a resolution establishing the County’s support of the Southern Illinois BiCentennial Celebration. A committee will be created to report to the County Board and to the group putting on the celebration. The celebration will feature events and exhibits in the state’s southern region from 2018-2020. Each year will have a different theme, focusing on the past, present, and future.
The Effingham County Board will vote on these items at their Monday, May 16 meeting.
