The former Neoga Police Officer charged with criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse has waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
40-year-old John Dilger was charged and arrested last month. The charge stems from an incident in January involving a 16-year-old girl. The assault charge has a penalty range of four to 15 years with no chance for probation. The abuse charge has a sentencing range of three to seven years with probation as an option. Dilger is currently not in custody, as he has posted $25,000, or 10% of his $250,000 bond.
Dilger’s next court appearance will be for a pretrial hearing. A date has not yet been scheduled, but the hearing is expected to be in approximately 60 days.
