The Effingham Flaming Hearts earned a 9-1 win over Neoga Tuesday. Mason Hull was the winning pitcher for Effingham, working around 8 hits to give up just one run in six innings. Zac Bateman carried the load for the offense with three hits and six RBIs, including a grand slam. Brent Beals also hit a two-run homer for the Hearts. Effingham is back in action Friday when they host Casey Westfield.
In other baseball action Teutopolis got the win over St. Anthony 5-4. The game went extra innings after Teutopolis tied things up at four in the top of the 7th. The Shoes then scored a run in the 8th to win the game. Devin Smith was the winning pitcher for Teutopolis. He threw two and 2/3 innings, striking out 7.
