HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital’s Wound Healing Center has been recognized nationally with two awards for their clinical excellence and exceptional patient satisfaction. The awards were presented by Healogics, nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services.
The Wound Healing Center recently received the “Robert A. Warriner III, M.D., Center of Excellence” Award, because it has met the highest quality standards for Healogics. This Center has achieved patient satisfaction rates higher than 92 percent and a healing rate of at least 91 percent in less than 30 median days, among other quality standards for a minimum of two consecutive years. This is the fifth year in a row that St. Anthony’s Wound Healing Center has received this prestigious honor. The award is named for Dr. Robert A. Warriner III, a pioneer in wound care and the former Chief Medical Officer for Healogics.
By meeting these high quality standards, St. Anthony’s Wound Healing Center also received the “Center of Distinction” Award, the sixth year in a row they have achieved this outstanding achievement. The Center achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for twelve consecutive months for patient satisfaction, wound healing rate and other quality standards outlined above. There were 512 Centers in the nation eligible for the “Center of Distinction” award, but only 221 achieved the honor.
St. Anthony’s Wound Healing Center is a member of Healogics’ network of over 700 centers, providing high-quality wound care and consulting services to hospitals across the United States. Since the partnership began in January 2010 to provide wound healing services, the hospital’s Wound Healing Center has cared for over 2,800 patients from this region, offering them hope and healing.
Tammy Probst, Director of St. Anthony’s Wound Healing Center, shared, “While these are national awards that we have won repeatedly for a number of years, we do not take lightly the honor of being recognized again for the exceptional care we provide. We couldn’t be more pleased that our patients report a high level of satisfaction with our care, which is connected to the compassion that our physicians and staff offer to each and every person who comes to our center for healing,” she said. “Additionally, the advanced wound care that we provide results in a high healing rate, which is something that we are extremely proud of, because it means that we are helping people get back to their lives,” she explained. “You don’t have to travel to Chicago or St. Louis to have nationally-ranked wound care – you can get hope and healing in Effingham, as our Wound Healing Center is the only wound center in a 100-mile radius to receive these national awards.”
The Wound Healing Center offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. Advanced treatments included negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered skin substitutes, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, biological and biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies.
