The Effingham County Board has approved a $3000 contribution to the CEO Program. The contribution will be made with a yearly payment of $1000 over the next three years. The goal of the CEO Program is to educate students in Effingham County to be responsible, enterprising individuals who become entrepreneurs or entrepreneurial thinkers and contribute to economic development and sustainable communities.
In other action, the Board honored Tina Daniels for her 25 years of service with the County Sheriff’s Department. Board Chairman Jim Niemann (seen above with Daniels) read a resolution honoring Daniels for her 25 years of loyalty and dedication to the county.
The Board also approved the purchase of road oil and patch mix from the low bidders. The total cost of the purchase will be $327,216.
The Board also approved a resolution declaring May 12th as Law Day in Effingham. Law Day provides a chance for high school students to learn about how county government functions. Students are elected to act as various county position for the day.
