The Democratic Party has won the top slots on the ballot in Effingham County for the November 8 General Election. Effingham County Clerk Kerry Hirtzel held a drawing to determine which party’s candidates will appear first on the ballot.
Rob Arnold, representing the Republican Party, and Steve Dasenbrock, representing the Democratic Party participated in the lottery. Each party’s representative pulled a number from a container for their parties’ placement on the upcoming ballot.
Arnold drew first, selecting a #2 for the Republican Party. He was followed by Dasenbrock, who selected the remaining #1 for the Democratic Party.
As a result, in all races on the Effingham County November 8, 2016 General Election ballot the Democratic Party candidate will be listed first and the Republican candidate second.
Ed Hoopingarner was also on hand to witness the process.
Those who wish to file as Independent or New Party candidates will file nomination papers between June 20, 2016 and June 27, 2016 and will be listed in order of filing after the Democratic and Republican Parties.
