The 23-year-old Vandalia woman charged with injuring her 3 and a half month old baby in February will undergo a fitness evaluation to determine if she is fit to stand trial.
Aubree Hammer is charged with aggravated battery to a child under the age of 13, which alleges that she caused great bodily harm and permanent disability to the child. The investigation found that Hammer threw the child onto a wooden floor, causing brain damage.
The decision for Hammer to undergo a fitness evaluation was made at a recent status hearing. Following the evaluation, a status hearing in the matter will be held on May 5th at 10:00am.
