The championship game is set with top-seeded North Carolina set to face Villanova on Monday after a pair of one-sided affairs in the semifinals. The first matchup turned out to be an epic blowout as Villanova demolished Oklahoma 95-51 to set a Final Four record for
margin of victory. It’s the first time the Wildcats are in the NCAA Tournament title game since 1985, when they set a tournament record
by shooting 78.6 percent in their upset of Georgetown for their only title in school history. The 2016 version connected at a 71.4
percent clip – trailing only the 1985 team all-time at the Final Four – as Josh Hart scored 23 points to lead six Villanova players
in double figures. Buddy Hield’s final collegiate game for Oklahoma went nothing like he hoped, finishing with nine points on 4-of-12
shooting.
In the second game, 10th-seeded Syracuse played North Carolina tough early, but the Tar Heels opened an 11-point halftime lead and
went up by as much as 19 in an 83-66 victory. Marcus Paige made three 3-pointers in the second half for UNC, which has won each of
its tournament games by at least 14 points. The Heels will be appearing in their 10th championship game, looking for a sixth title and third under Roy Williams.
The Championship game will air on 98.9 The Game.
