HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital’s Physical Rehabilitation and Wellness outpatient therapy department is now open at the Richard E. Workman Sports and Wellness Complex.
St. Anthony’s outpatient Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy services moved to their new, larger area in the Sports Complex on January 28-29. They began offering these outpatient therapy services on Monday, February 1 at the Workman Sports Complex located at 1301 North Maple Street. St. Anthony’s is leasing 8,000 square feet of space in the new Sports Complex, with a location near the entrance. The hours of operation for outpatient therapy at the Sports Complex are 7:00am-5:30pm, Monday-Friday.
Although outpatient therapy services are now offered off the hospital campus, St. Anthony’s will continue to provide therapy services for hospital inpatients at St. Anthony’s through a team of therapists who will remain at the hospital.
For those people having outpatient therapy, they may register for their therapy appointments in the Physical Rehab and Wellness department at the Sports Complex. They do not need to come to the hospital to register. In addition, patients of the Physical Rehabilitation and Wellness department do not have to have a membership at the Sports Complex to use the hospital services located there. Reserved parking spaces will be located near the Sports Complex entrance for St. Anthony’s Physical Rehabilitation patients.
St. Anthony’s partnered with the Effingham Park District to relocate their outpatient Physical Rehab services to the Sports Complex, which supports the hospital’s commitment to area residents’ overall wellness and partnering with our community. The collaboration with the Park District at the Sports Complex also provides an opportunity for St. Anthony’s to expand the therapy services offered to the community. Once the pool is completed at the Sports Complex, St. Anthony’s Physical Rehab and Wellness staff will have use of the Lazy River portion two hours each morning, Monday through Friday, to provide aquatic therapy to patients, a service not previously offered at St. Anthony’s.
Candy Jansen, St. Anthony’s Director of Rehab and Wellness, shared about her department’s move to the Sports Complex. “We are excited to be located in this beautiful, brand new facility, offering physical, occupational and speech therapy to area residents in a convenient setting. We have had really good feedback from our patients and increased interest in our services. In fact, we saw 60 new patients within the first week here,” she said. “We hope that those needing therapy see what we can offer and choose to have their therapy at St. Anthony’s Rehabilitation and Wellness at the Sports Complex. All they need is a referral from their physician and we are more than happy to help them.”
A public open house of the Richard E. Wellness Sports and Wellness Complex is being planned for later this spring, but for those interested in seeing what St. Anthony’s Physical Rehabilitation and Wellness have to offer before then may contact Candy Jansen, Director of Rehab and Wellness, at 217-347-1243 to schedule a time for a brief tour.
