The Effingham Library Board has approved the library’s 2016 Action Plan and Fiscal Year 2017 budget. The action plan is a list of things the library hopes to accomplish in the current year. Many of the items on the plan involve work in the community. The plan includes intentions to expand services to nursing homes and day cares in the areas. The library is also looking into providing books to inmates at the Effingham County Jail. The approved budget includes wage increases for employees of up to 5%, depending on certain qualifiers. The budget will likely be voted on and approved next month.
In other action, the Board began discussion on updating the library’s personnel policy. The policy includes the handling of hirings, disciplinary action, and off-days.
