In a game that could determine your Little Okaw Valley Conference Southeast Division winner, the Cumberland Pirates fell at home to the Oblong Panters 75-63.
Oblong jumped out to a 21-13 lead after one quarter, with Dawson Maus and Zander Laino combining for 18 points in the opening 8 minutes. Oblong extended their lead to 14 at the half where they were up 37-23. Cumberland’s defensive and offensive woes continued in the third quarter where they trailed by as much as 19. The Pirates fought back in the fourth to get within 10, but the game would get no closer.
Laino finished with 29 for Oblong, while Maus had 25. Hunter Goodwin added 15 for the Panthers. Brandon Shaon and Gunner McMechan each had 12 for the Pirates in the loss. Cumberland is now 13-10 on the season. Oblong improved to 15-11.
