Top seeded Altamont has reached the finals of the National Trail Conference Tournament. The Indians picked up a 64-46 win Thursday over South Central. Altamont jumped out to a 19-6 lead after one quarter, and led 38-19 at the half before the teams played close to even the rest of the Ryan Armstrong led Altamont with 20 points, while Mitchell Stevenson also had 14. South Central was led by Brett Harmeier’s 22 points. Harmeier topped 1,000 points for his career in the game.
With their win Altamont improved to 18-3. They will play for the tournament title against the winner of Dieterich and St. Anthony, while the loser of that game will face South Central for 3rd place.
In girls basketball Effingham cruised to a 51-22 win over Mt. Zion. In other action, Dieterich got a 39-36 win over South Central. South Central’s Abby Hahn scored her 1000th point in the loss.
In other girls basketball action, Brownstown-St. Elmo beat Ramsey 50-30, Olney beat Newton 59-48 in overtime, and Oblong beat Cumberland 46-28.
