Things escalated in season two of Gotham. Like a lot. It all culminated when Jim Gordon temporarily abandoned his principles and killed a man in cold blood. Granted, this was not only time that Gordon committed an act of evil for the greater good of Gotham, at the behest of Penguin nonetheless, but this one just seemed more brutal. Anyway, after it all we caught a brief glimpse at one of the upcoming villains for the second half of season 2. BEHOLD MR. FREEZE.
Okay, admittedly he does look a bit like the Johnny Depp version of Willie Wonka there. But still it’s Mr. Freeze! One thing is for sure, this is going to be one cool season. See what I did there? Okay, I’ll chill with the Dr. Freeze puns. Who wore those goggles better?
Anyway, while speaking to TV Guide show runner Bruno Heller had this to say about the Dr. Freeze story line:
“We’re taking it back to the roots of the origin story […] It’s about him and his wife before he became a bad guy, how he became a bad guy. It’s very much a story of the heart rather than a story about technology and super-villainy. It’s a doomed romance. It will make people cry.”
There’s a lot to look forward to as Gotham returns on February 29. We get Mr. Freeze, Dr. Hugo Strange, and Penguin’s father. Also, I don’t care what people think. I thought that Arnold made a great Dr. Freeze.
