Atlamont resident Steven Larson has been sentenced to 108 months (9 years) in federal prison on the charge of Transportation of a Minor with Intent to Engage in Sexual Activity. The sentencing also includes 10 years of supervised release following the prison term.
The 60-year-old Larson was charged in January of last year when was supposed to take the 13-year-old girl to her karate lesson. The two never arrived at the lesson. They were instead found during the early morning hours of February 1st at a Sikeston, Missouri hotel. The sentencing comes after Larson pleaded guilty to the charge in October in a US District Court in Missouri. He faces federal charges in Missouri and Ilinois because he crossed state lines with the girl.
The sentencing judge in the case was Stephen Limbaugh Jr.
The outcome of the charges against Larson in Illinois and Effingham County are still pending. He still faces charges of unlawful restraint, indecent solicitation of a child, and obstructing justice.
