The Illinois State Police have announced their activity and enforcement figures for the month of December in District 12. Troopers in District 12, which includes Clark, Clay, Crawford, Cumberland, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Lawrence, Marion, and Richland Counties, answered 225 calls for service and initiated 1439 incidents in the field.
In addition, there were 830 citations and 795 written warnings in October, including 380 speeding citations, 23 DUIs, and 37 criminal arrests. Troopers also assisted 196 motorists, conducted 397 Motor Carrier Inspections, and investigated 84 traffic crashes. There were three fatal crashes investigated during the month.
In total there were 471 citations and 239 written warnings issued for “Fatal Four” violations last month. These violations are most associated with fatal traffic crashes and include Speeding, DUI, Failure to Wear a Seatbelt, and Distracted Driving.
December included increased enforcement efforts around Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
