The Effingham Public Library Board has reviewed their 2016 action plan, which is a list of things the library hopes to accomplish in the current year. Many of the items on the plan involve work in the community. The plan includes intentions to expand services to nursing homes and day cares in the areas. The library is also looking into providing books to inmates at the Effingham County Jail.
The Board also approved the library as a backup location for the Artisan Fair in the event of rain, and as a possible location for a Red Cross emergency shelter.
The Board also discussed the budget for Fiscal Year 2017. The budget includes wage increases for employees of up to 5%, depending on certain qualifiers. The budget will likely be voted on and approved next month.
