The University of Illinois men’s basketball team went on the road Sunday to take on Ohio State. The Illini kept it close throughout, and held a brief two point lead late in the game, but the Buckeyes would came out on top 75-73.
Illinois trailed by five with 12 seconds remaining. Three-pointers by Jalen Coleman-Lands and Malcolm Hill kept it interesting, by Ohio State’s Marc Loving knocked down three of four free throws to keep the Buckeyes on top. Malcom Hill missed a full court shot as time expired, giving Ohio State the win.
Marc Loving was Ohio State’s leading scorer with 27. The Illini had a balanced attack with 14 points each from Michael Finke, Kendrick Nunn, Hill, and Coleman-Lands.
The loss dropped Illinois to 8-7 overall and 0-2 in the Big Ten. Ohio State improved to 10-5 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
