State Representative John Cavaletto, who represents the local 107th District, is reminding Illinois motorists that the Secretary of State’s office will no longer be mailing notifications to vehicle owners reminding them to renew their license plate stickers. Motorists are being urged to visit the Secretary of State website to sign up for e-mail notifications at www.ilsos.gov/greenmail to request their sticker renewal notice be emailed to them.
“Tough economic times call for a constant review of spending priorities and keeping public safety, education, and human services at the top of our funding priorities,” Representative Cavaletto commented. “The mailed notices were a nice convenience but without a state budget and with the cuts to the Secretary of State’s budget we just simply can’t afford many things like this,” Cavaletto added.
Drivers are reminded that in order to sign up they will need their registration card, which has their registration ID number and PIN number as well as a valid email address. For motorists that do not renew their vehicle sticker on time, a $20 additional fee will apply.
