A mobile home in Effingham was damaged Thursday in a fire. The fire occurred at 207 Lakewood Manor Drive in the Lakewood Trailer Park at 12:38am.
Effingham Police first arrived on the scene and reported heavy fire showing, with a van in driveway and no occupants out front. First arriving crews reported heavy fire conditions with fire through the roof at the rear of the trailer home. A Full Still Alarm was called at 12:48am for a working structure fire, with the Teutopolis and Watson Fire Protection Districts changing quarters to Effingham stations with engines.
Firefighters forced entry in to the residence and began a primary search for any occupants. No occupants were found to be inside. The fire was under control at 1:01am, with all utilities secured by Ameren at 01:35am. There were no injuries reported. The area of origin of the fire was in the rear bedroom.
The trailer and all contents are a total loss. The owner is Richard and Pamela Atkins and attempts to locate them were unsuccessful. It is believed they are both out of state visiting friends and relatives. The nearby trailer at 209 Lakewood Manor Dr. sustained radiant heat damage to the siding.
The scene was cleared at 02:44am.
