The Effingham Lady Hearts looked to make it four consecutive first place finishes at the Charleston Holiday Tournament Wednesday afternoon. Effingham faced undefeated Charleston in the championship, falling to the Lady Trojans 65-52. It was Effingham’s second loss to Charleston this year, with the first coming in early December by a score of 70-56. With the loss Effingham is now 10-4 on the season. Charleston improved to 15-0.
Charleston’s Morgan Sherwood was named tournament MVP. She had 20 points in the title game. Paige Swango also had 19 for the Lady Trojans. Effingham freshman Carsyn Fearday was an All-Tournament selection. She had a game 22 points Wednesday.
The Lady Hearts will be back in action Saturday when they play at Cahokia.
