Five Kentucky residents were killed Saturday when their vehicle was swept off a bridge near Patoka. The five people killed, who have not been identified, were on their way to Minnesota. They incident occured on a bridge on Farthing Road, which is east of Patoka. The bridge was covered with water due to the heavy rainfall in the area. Emergency personell responded to the scene at approximately 7:30pm, but they were unable to rescue any of the vehicle’s occupants. After leaving the bridge, the vehicle was swept over 150 feet down stream. The official cause of death has been ruled as drowning.
