The Neoga woman facing Involuntary Manslaughter charges in the death of a 1-year-old girl she was babysitting will stand trial.
21-year-old Natasha Gordon was charged in October in the death of Arianna McNeal. Gordon was babysitting McNeal and her boyfriend’s three-year-old daughter. Gordon put the two in the bathtub, and then went to the front porch to talk with her boyfriend. When she returned to the bathroom Ariana was found facedown in the bathtub.
The investigation found that Natasha Gordon began CPR and contacted 911 when she discovered McNeal. Authorities brought McNeal to Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon where she was pronounced dead.
At Gordon’s appearance in Cumberland County court earlier this week it was ruled that their is probable cause for the case to stand trial. A trial date has not been scheduled at this time, but a pretrial hearing will be held on February 1.
