Certain palm trees in the Sumaco Biosphere Reserve in Ecuador decide to uproot themselves and move around, presumable to get away from other tress that annoy them or to go destroy Saruman’s fortress in The Lord of Rings: The Two Towers. Okay, it’s not that dramatic in real life. But these palm trees do “walk,” albeit very slowly. As soil around the tree erodes, its roots recede and the tree puts down new ones in firmer soil. This causes the tree move short distances over a long period of time. The process is too slow for humans to sit there and observe, but it’s still amazing.
