A Beecher City man was found dead in a wooded area near his home Thursday, but police say no foul play is suspected.
The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office received a report Thursday afternoon that 66-year-old David Tarrant failed to return to his home in Beecher City. Sheriff’s Deputies arrived minutes later and conducted an initial investigation which determined that Tarrant had been missing for approximately 24 hours. A physical search of the area was conducted by sheriff’s deputies with assistance from friends and neighbors of Tarrant.
Tarrant’s body was found at approximately 3:47pm in a wooded area southwest of his home. Effingham County Coroner Duane Guffey was called to the scene to assist with the investigation.
At this time, investigators working on the case do not suspect foul play. The investigation though is ongoing.
