The Effingham County Board met Thursday for a special meeting ahead of their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, December 21st. At the special meeting the Board approved contracts for health, dental, and vision insurance for the County’s employees in 2016. The Board had delayed the approval of insurance contracts over the last week as they were awaiting final bids. The delay on approving an insurance bid has led to a delay in the passing of a budget for Fiscal Year 2016, as the budget can’t be passed without the approval of an insurance bid.
The Board had an item on the agenda Thursday to approve the budget, but the vote was tabled until Monday. The reason for the lack of vote was to allow board members an opportunity to review the budget now that it includes insurance numbers. A vote on the budget will now come on Monday at the Board’s regularly scheduled monthly meeting.
