This is actually the first I’ve heard of a third Boondock Saints film in the works. Apparently the the title, “Boondock Saints 3: Legion,” was announced back in August. Frankly, after “All Saints Day” I was pretty much done with the franchise. The first one was good because it was shocking, different, and mysterious. The second film lacked the shock and mystery and pretty much devolved into an action flick with some off-color humor mixed in. I found it entertaining, but that was it. The acting was great, but the plot was goofy and convoluted. Plus, if you’re going to kill off a favorite character, Paul Smecker (Willem Dafoe), at least show it in the film. It would have made the plot twist that Smecker was alive more meaningful. Also if Smecker was alive the whole time, why did he wait until after Saints were thrown into prison to make his appearance?
Anyway, Norman Reedus has confirmed that he’ll be in the third film. I’m guessing that Sean Patrick Flanery will be as well, otherwise there would be no point.
