Director Ridley Scott slipped up in an interview with Indie Wire and leaked his own new secret name for the “Prometheus” sequel which is set for a 2017 release. The film, if it was ever actually going to go into production, was originally titled “Alien: Paradise Lost.” The new title is “Alien: Covenant” and it will go into production this February.
Fans are still very confused as to what’s going on with the Alien franchise. First there was going to be a “Prometheus” sequel, but that was put on hold in favor of another “Alien” sequel, but now it looks like that project is being postponed because, for real this time, “Alien: Covenant” is happening. Even though “Prometheus” originally wasn’t a direct prequel to “Alien,” it is now because Ridley Scott says so.
The new film will follow another group of intrepid space explorers who find what seems to be a habitable paradise, only it isn’t. Also, Michael Fassbender’s head is there. “Alien: Covenant” is due in theaters October 2017.
