The Neoga Board of Education has approved placing a tax referendum on the spring 2016 ballot. With the Board’s approval, the referendum will now be in the hand’s of the school district’s voters. If passed in the coming election, the District will receive an additional $415,000 in tax revenue.
The Neoga School District has been hit hard by financial issues, which has led to the shortening of the school day by an hour, and cuts to faculty and extracurricular activities among other reductions.
A referendum for the Neoga district was voted down in the most recent election, but it was for nearly double the amount of the most recent proposal.
