The body of a missing Shelby County man was found Sunday. 32-year-old Jason Navis had been bow hunting with his brother on Saturday. He was reported missing that evening when he didn’t meet back up with his brother at their deer stand after dark.
Navis’ body was found Sunday at 12:45pm in a water-filled, spring-fed creek on the property where he was hunting.
The search was conducted by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois Department of Natural Resources Police, Illinois State Police Air Operations, Shelby County Dive Team and Rescue Squad, Shelby County IEMA, Sheriff’s Office Reserves, the County Coroner, American Red Cross, Effingham County K9 Search and Rescue.
There were also approximately 50 to 60 members of the Shelby County community that volunteered their help in the search.
Navis’ death is believed to have been an accident, but the investigation is ongoing
