The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Colorado woman Thursday afternoon after finding her in possession of more than 60 pounds of cannabis.
Polices pulled over 37-year-old Julia Macri for expired registration and following too closely. The cannabis was found during the traffic stop.
The cannabis was found in the vehicle in three large duffel bags and was bagged in 64 separate bags, layered over several times and each bag weighing about one pound or better. 64 pounds of cannabis would have a street value estimated at between $192,000 to $320,000.
The traffic stop was made by part-time Deputy Stacy McElroy on Interstate 70. Macri is charged with cannabis trafficking, manufacture or delivery of cannabis and possession of cannabis of greater than 5000 grams.
