The Illinois General Assembly has approved Democratic Representative Frank Mautino of Spring Valley to be the state’s new auditor general.
Mautino’s nomination came with partisan support, being approved in the Senate by a 55-0 vote, and in the House on a vote of 102-10.
State Representative David Reis, who represents the local 109th district, was one of those on the legislative committee charged with making the recommendation to the General Assembly, and Mautino was his recommendation.
“I think Frank rose to the top because of all his years of experience on the Audit Commission, 23 years. He understands what goes on and what the duties of the Auditor General are,” said Reis.
Mautino has been a member of the Legislative Audit Commission since 1997. The commission, a bi-partisan panel of senators and representatives, reviews the audits prepared by the auditor general.
