The Altamont School Board met Monday, where they learned that an early school year issue with performance in the classroom has been improved. Three weeks into the current school year the Altamont District had 58 students who were failing at least one class. A goal was set for the District’s teachers to reduce the failure rate by 50%, and to start by contacting parents of students who were failing. As of the Monday meeting, the number of failing grades had been lowered to 26.
The Board also handled financial matters, including the approval of the results of the annual audit of the district’s finances. The Board also adopted a resolution to abate $410,000 from Working Cash to Capital Projects Fund, and presented a tentative FY16 Tax Levy
