Mayor Jeff Bloemker recently signed a proclamation declaring October 11th, 2015 as “National DAR Day of Service” in the City of Effingham.
Said Mayor Bloemker, “I am honored to be able to recognize and support the service efforts of the Ann Crooker St. Clair Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The DAR volunteers millions of hours annually across the nation by assisting active duty military personnel and veterans. And the DAR awards hundreds of thousands of dollars every year in financial aid to American students. The DAR is a foundational service organization in the USA and I’m proud of our Effingham group.”
Any woman 18 years or older who can prove they are related to a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible to become a DAR member. In Effingham, contact Deanna Higgs at 217-821-2563 or Candace Goodrich at 217-553-7223 for more information.
