Alabama had run Jack Daniels out of the state in 1915 just before Prohibition and not a drop of legal whiskey has been distilled there since. That is until now at the John Emerald Distilling Company. A major challenge for new distilleries, like John Emerald, is simply getting their product to shelves as whiskey takes time to age. The other part of the problem was navigating Alabama’s convoluted laws that had pretty much been in place since Prohibition.
