Illinois Department of Transportation officials were in Effingham Tuesday for a public meeting. The meeting provided area residents a chance to learn about IDOT’s current multi-year program for District 7, and to provide feedback. District 7 contains 16 counties, including Effingham, Fayette, Cumberland, Clark, and Jasper, as well as other nearby counties.
The multi-year plan includes improvements that are scheduled to take place between 2016 and 2021. The plan calls for $205 million in improvements, many of which will take place on the District’s highways.
Information at the meeting also detailed options for public transportation, including Amtrak, buses, and ride programs.
Attendees had the opportunity to speak with IDOT officials, have questions answered, and fill out a survey voicing any concerns or needs.
