Ameren Illinois hosted a workshop in Effingham for first responders. The workshop was designed to heighten awareness of working safely around natural gas hazards when city and county workers and first responders are on the scene of an emergency. First responders in attendance learned of the hazards of dealing with natural gas issues, and how to safely respond to these instances.
“If they get a 911 call and they suspect it could be natural gas, we want to make sure they call Ameren Illinois immediately at 800-755-5000,” said Ameren Public Awareness Supervisor Gina Meehan Taylor.
Ameren is hosting more than 75 natural gas safety workshop across central and southern Illinois this year.
