Well, this is certainly an interesting story. PETA is suing to give a macaque monkey named Naruto, the grinning fellow in the picture, rights to a “selfie” style shot of him taken by a nature photographer. At first I thought it sounded a tad bit crazy, but the argument isn’t as far out there as you think. Since the photo is being used in commercial products and making a profit for the photographer, shouldn’t the proceeds go to benefit the model? I don’t think anyone is arguing to cut Naruto the monkey a check, but who knows?
