After holding a ribbon cutting ceremony last week, the Effingham VA clinic is now open.
The new clinic is 10,000-square-foot facility, which is a 56% percent increase in size over the previous location.
In addition to an increase in space, the new location will give access to two large Video-Teleconference units and two smaller units which will bring Tele-Health services to Veterans in the Effingham area. This service will connect Veterans with more providers near and far, allowing for improved access. Tele-health services will now be available all day with a designated LPN, trained in tele-retinal services.
The staff will include a nurse specializing in tele-retinal eye-care services.
The clinic is now open for walk-in patients. Regularly scheduled patients can begin using the facility Tuesday. The ribbon cutting was held prior to the official opening to allow patients visiting the clinic to maintain privacy.
