The second Annual 9/11 Honor Stair Climb was held Friday morning at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital. More than 50 people were registered for the climb. Climbers included local emergency services personnel, many of whom made the climb in full gear, and members of the public.
The climb was a National Fallen Firefighters Foundation event, held to honor the 343 firefighters who lost their lives responding to the attack on the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001. Participants made the climb from ground floor of the hospital to the sixth floor and back down 18 times to represent the 110 floors at the twin tower buildings. A number of people were also on hand Friday to offer encouragement to the climbers.
All money raised by the climb will go to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. As of the morning of the climb, more than $3000 had been raised.
