The Altamont native charged with wire fraud now has a hearing set for later this fall, where it is believed a plea deal could be reached. 25-year-old Nick Wurl, who now resides in the Chicago area, will appear for that hearing on November 10th.
The charge against Wurl alleges that he fraudulently obtained around $9 million from approximately 50 investors by making false and misleading representations to the investors. This also resulted in a loss to investors of approximately $4 million.
Wurl, if found guilty, faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, or an alternate fine totaling twice the loss or twice the gain, whichever is greater.
