An increased presence of police in Illinois are on the roads looking for drunk drivers, and they’ll keep the patrols going through Labor Day Weekend. The Illinois Department of Transportation and State Police announced the kickoff of the “Driver Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign yesterday. More than 250 police departments across the state are joining forces to increase the number of safety checks and drunk driving patrols. An IDOT spokesperson said drunk driving continues to be a problem across the state. People are urged to always designate a driver before drinking.
