Dr. Naeem Kohli has seen his sentencing delayed until next month. The Effingham Doctor was set for a sentencing hearing Monday, but his attorney was unavailable for the appearance. Kohli was charged in spring of 2014 with Illegal Dispensation of a Schedule II Controlled Substance. He was found guilty in January of seven counts of the charge.
Kohli was convicted for writing numerous prescriptions for controlled substances such as Oxycodone and Hydromorphone with out any legitimate medical reason between May of 2009 and May of 2013.
He will now be back in court for his sentencing on September 14th. He could face up to 20 years on each of the 7 counts for which he was found guilty.
