The Effingham Unit 40 Board of Education has passed a tentative budget for Fiscal Year 2016. Passing a tentative budget is an early step in the budget process, but things are more uncertain this year than usual. That’s because of another major drop in general state aid for the Effingham District. In FY16 Unit 40 will receive $202,000 less in general state aid than the year before.
Currently the District has a projected revenue of $25.22 million, with expenditures projected at $26.2 million. The Board will now begin looking into possible cuts to get the district’s budget closer to balanced.
In other action at Monday’s meeting the Board approved the annual hazardous bus route resolution and an updated bus purchase and lease rotation.
